Martijn Gerard Garittsen, professionally known as Martin Garrix, is a Dutch DJ and record producer from Amstelveen.
By the year 2013, Martin Garrix gained international fame thanks to his solo release of the song “Animals.” Garrix was then the youngest person to reach the number one spot on Beatport. The next year, Garrix, at age 17, became the youngest DJ to headline a major music festival. In 2016 he founded the music label Stmpd Rcrds and was also designated as the “World’s Top DJ” in DJ Mag’s annual top 100.
What followed was numerous collaborations with the likes of Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, David Guetta, and even Tiesto—the DJ who inspired Martin Garrix during his early years.
If we’re going to talk about all the awards plus nominations Martin Garrix has, we might be here all day. So let’s focus on just the awards. To name the major ones. Garrix was ranked number 1 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ’s for years 2016, 2017, and 2018 – yup, three years in a row. He has also raked in “Best Electro / Progressive Track”, “DJ of the Year”, “Newcomer of the Year” in the Dance Music Awards. “Animals”, his first solo release was awarded “Best International Song” in the Buma awards. In the MTV Europe Music Awards, Garrix has won “Best Electric” and “Best World Stage Performance.” The list goes on.
